How Triton is Helping Rural Ecuador

At Triton we have had the privilege of helping an amazing group of individuals over the past two years passionate about quality health care.

Andean Health & Development is changing the health and well-being of the poor in rural Ecuador by providing high-quality medical care based on an innovate and proven model of local sustainability. It operates the only Latin American rural teaching hospital that are training tomorrow’s physicians to serve the needs of the region’s poor communities. (Andean Health & Development, 2016)

To raise money for this cause, a group of cyclists led by team captain Dave Cutler and by Michael Heisler, Chair of the Andean Health Board, have completed five bicycle rides raising over $1,000,000!

Triton was excited to again partner and make their trip a little easier this year with an 18-foot long Prestige trailer. Our own Tony Schellinger’s knowledge in cycling was able to help custom design a trailer to accommodate 20 bicycles and gear! This cycling team needed a trailer for 2016 that could work as hard as they did, able to handle 24,000’ of climbing, descents as well as diverse road conditions in Alberta, Canada and Montana, USA. The trip, taking place in August was a huge success!

We’ve already started plans for the 20th anniversary of Andean Health & Development in 2017 ride!
